I did not intend to record this, since it looked like one of those “reenactors” events that I generally don’t see as worthy of attention.
However, I did get part of it b/c the first airing followed a program about China that I did want to record. I think this one really is
worthwhile.

Gary Gallagher Description: Civil War scholar and author Gary Gallagher takes a group of high school history teachers from Taos, New Mexico on a tour of Antietam National Battlefield Park in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Professor Gallagher discusses events leading up to the Battle of Antietam, the battle itself, and the political issues affected by Antietam. Fought on September 17th, 1862, the battle of Antietam is still the bloodiest day in American military history with over 23,000 killed, wounded or missing after twelve hours of combat.Author Bio: Gary Gallagher has written six books and edited dozens of others. His works include “The Confederate War” Harvard University Press, 1997, “Lee and His Generals in War and Memory” Louisiana State University Press, 1998, and “Lee and His Army in Confederate History” University of North Carolina Press, 2001.
